&lt;p&gt;I am looking forward to contributing to the conference in this new role and to the discussions around biomedical engineering, digital health, and artificial intelligence.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The accepted works span several of the topics we are currently exploring, including biomedical AI, multimodal learning, physiological signals, computer vision, and clinical NLP.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Looking forward to presenting and discussing this work with the community. &lt;strong&gt;See you in Siena from September 14 to 17!&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;/p&gt;</description></item><item><title>AIME 2026 in Ottawa</title><link>https://lbacco.github.io/news/aime-2026-ottawa/</link><pubDate>Fri, 10 Jul 2026 18:00:00 -0400</pubDate><guid>https://lbacco.github.io/news/aime-2026-ottawa/</guid><description>&lt;p&gt;I had the pleasure of attending &lt;strong&gt;AIME 2026 — the 24th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine — in Ottawa, Canada&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A particularly rewarding part of the conference was seeing &lt;strong&gt;two PhD students whom I have been mentoring since their MSc theses&lt;/strong&gt; present two of our joint papers:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;A Multimodal Wearable Framework for Predicting Epileptic Seizures&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;Multi-View Lumbar MRI for Therapy-Oriented Decision Support System in Low Back Pain&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It was great to see research that started during their thesis work continue to develop and reach an international audience.&lt;/p&gt;
