AIME 2026 in Ottawa
I had the pleasure of attending AIME 2026 — the 24th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine — in Ottawa, Canada.
A particularly rewarding part of the conference was seeing two PhD students whom I have been mentoring since their MSc theses present two of our joint papers:
- A Multimodal Wearable Framework for Predicting Epileptic Seizures
- Multi-View Lumbar MRI for Therapy-Oriented Decision Support System in Low Back Pain
It was great to see research that started during their thesis work continue to develop and reach an international audience.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. My research focuses on artificial intelligence, with particular interests in natural language processing, large language models, multimodal learning, explainable AI, and biomedical applications.
I am particularly interested in developing reliable and data-efficient machine learning methods for low-data and specialized-domain settings, and in translating advances in AI into interdisciplinary biomedical research.
